About the ldc

THE LDC MISSION STATEMENT

"The Lapeer Development Corporation (LDC) was established in 1981. This great organization is a community based, 501(c)(3), non-profit economic development organization created to  lead and coordinate economic development throughout Lapeer County. 

It also provides a link between federal, state, and local governments and businesses interested in locating or expanding in Lapeer County.


The LDC acts as a liaison between the public and private sectors to obtain the necessary assistance for a project. 

In addition, the Lapeer Development Corporation will work to retain, expand, and attract key business sectors.


The LDC will help you succeed!

Regional Partners

 I-69 International Trade Corridor is a collaborative effort by businesses and local government partners from Lapeer, Genesee, St. Clair and Shiawassee Counties to market the area's airport, highway, railroad and water port resources to companies that are engaged in international commerce, particularly through Canada. The goal is to encourage firms to not only ship through this corridor but to also setup manufacturing and distribution facilities here to take advantage of these multi-model transportation opportunities. To support the program a Next Michigan Development Corporation has been created with participation from 36 municipalities in the four counties, making it one of the largest intergovernmental collaboratives in the State of Michigan.

I-69 Thumb Region covers seven counties in eastern Michigan: Genesee, Huron, Lapeer, Sanilac, Shiawassee, St. Clair and Tuscola. The I-69 Thumb Region has a wide range of agricultural richness, manufacturing know-how, transportation resources and is rich in assets & opportunities. Each county plays a unique role in making the region one of the most resource rich in the state.

The Region 6 PTAC provides procurement advice and counseling to Michigan companies interested in doing business with local, state and federal governments and is funded in part by MEDC. PTAC has a track record of successfully preparing local businesses to win government contracts on the local, state and federal levels.


Detroit Regional Chamber is dedicated to powering the economy for Southeast Michigan and moving the economic needle by helping businesses of all sizes. The Chamber is recognized by the business, government and civic communities as a leader in regional collaboration. The Chamber acts as a platform for problem solving and uniting individuals to share ideas.


Small Business Development Center I-69 Trade Corridor Region, located at Kettering University in Flint, MI,  offers assistance for any type of business at any stage: new ventures, existing businesses, growth companies and advanced technology companies.
Services include business counseling, business education, information based planning, and technology commercialization.


GST Michigan Works! serves the needs of business through six (6) county-based One-Stop Service Centers. Business services are offered by a region-wide team of employer-focused Business Solutions Professionals serving Genesee, Huron, Lapeer, Sanilac, Shiawassee and Tuscola counties. Specialized talent development services, ranging from Career Readiness Assessments and Job Search Assistance to Classroom and On-the-Job Training (OJT) opportunities are facilitated by an experienced staff of Career Counselors, Employment Specialists, and a diverse network of partners offering a host of Education,Training and Development resources. GST Michigan Works! is committed to assisting employers by finding and training skilled workers, and job seekers by providing resources that help prepare for, find and retain employment. GST Michigan Works! Advancing Employers-Enhancing Talent. 


 

State Partners

Pure Michigan Talent Connect, a collaborative effort of the State of Michigan’s Workforce Development Agency (WDA), the Talent Investment Agency (TIA) and the Michigan Economic Development Corporation (MEDC) is a launch pad for new jobs, careers and talent. It is an online marketplace connecting Michigan’s job seekers and employers, and serves as a central hub linking all public and private stakeholders who support Michigan’s workforce. Pure Michigan Talent Connect serves as the state’s labor exchange system.


The MEDC partners with businesses and organizations across the state who engage in a variety of activities, including financing, matchmaking, site selection, resources for companies and assisting entrepeneurs.


Michigan Manufacturing Technology Center (MMTC)  assists Michigan’s small and medium-sized businesses compete and grow. Through personalized services tailored to meet the needs of clients, MMTC develops more effective business leaders, drives product and process innovation, promotes company-wide operational excellence and fosters creative strategies for business growth and greater profitability.
